Simple Mode

- there is a one-way transmission.

Half-duplex mode

- both the units communicate over the same medium

- only one unit can only send the data at a time

- when one is sending mode, the other unit is in receive mode

- walky-talky 

Full-duplex mode

- both the units can communicate with each other simultaneously

- telephone, mobile phone
